Ala Moana Beach Park is a place where you can lose yourself in the simple pleasures of life. You can string up a hammock between two palms, jog around the scenic Magic Island, or simply park yourself on a bench or beach blanket to take in the awe-inspiring ocean views.

I love walking under the palm trees, admiring the ocean views, and seeing people of all ages and stages of life spending time outside. From joggers and soccer players to families with young children, the park is always full of life and positive energy.

This park is a testament to the delicate balance between nature and urbanity. Chiseled from the shoreline, this marshy wetland was turned into a beautiful coastal escape in the 1920s. Today, swimmers, surfers, and sea turtles now share the crystal-clear Pacific waters.

This park is a true oasis in the heart of Honolulu, offering a serene escape from the bustling city, even with the bustling Ala Moana Center right across the street. Its history dates back to the 1920s when the marshy wetland was transformed into the stunning coastal park that we know and love today. The Magic Island lagoon, in particular, is a testament to the incredible vision and determination of those who sought to create this beautiful space for future generations to enjoy.

The park's modern-day picture-perfect setting and gentle waves create a one-of-a-kind environment for beach lovers and marine life alike, making it a must-visit destination for those who enjoy swimming, surfing, and beachside activities.

The convenience of walking to Ala Moana Beach for a swim

On weekends, the park transforms into a playground for all. People set up tents and party platters, coming together to celebrate birthdays and milestones, often with giant bouncy houses. Spirited groups dive and lunge in the sand for volleyball games, and the sound of children gleefully splashing in the waves adds to the park's cheerful atmosphere.

As the sun dips below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, the beauty of Ala Moana Beach Park is mesmerizing.

When I'm in the mood for a tasty meal, I head over to Ginza Sushi, a sushi bar located in Ward Village. It’s always popular, especially for dinner.

This casual neighborhood sushi bar offers an extensive menu. I especially like their "create your own combo" section since it’s a way to try a different things. I've had their veggie tempura, udon, and different sushi and sashimi. No matter what I order, I always leave full and satisfied.

As I make my way home after a day spent at Ala Moana Beach Park, I can't help but feel a profound sense of appreciation for the blend of nature, urbanity, and aloha spirit that makes living in Hawaii so special.
