Kumana Activewear

My friend was visiting recently, and I wanted to take her out for a fun day of shopping. We headed to South Shore Market in Ward Village. Our first stop was Nalu for their mouthwatering acai bowls, which turned out to be the perfect fuel for a day of shopping and discovery.

As we meandered through the bustling marketplace, we stumbled upon a pop-up market showcasing local Hawaiian-made goods. We were drawn into checking out the colorful booth of Kūmana Activewear, with their cool pineapple-shaped logo and eye-catching designs in colors that pay tribute to Hawaii’s oceans, lush tropical foliage, and stunning landscapes.

Kūmana Activewear is a Native Hawaiian-owned brand specializing in sustainable athletic wear. Their sports bra are thoughtfully designed to be supportive with thick-strapped and elongated construction. Their leggings have deep side pockets, and are soft and stretchy.

The brand’s owner and designer, Kawehi Leon Guerrero, is passionately committed to protecting the environment while producing high-quality activewear. In a market saturated with fast fashion and disposable clothing, it’s refreshing to meet someone who cares so much.

The clothing items are made from recycled fabrics and organic cotton, and even their packaging is made from non-plastic material to minimize waste and enviromental harm. Needless to say, my friend and I couldn't resist purchasing a few items each. I decided to mix and match, and got navy leggings with a pink sports bra.

I'm already looking forward to my next workout, knowing I'll be wearing my new Kūmana Activewear set.
